SILMARK brown is a silicone rubber casting material. With the high concentration of pigments in the material, even the strong lighting under a microscope cannot penetrate and reflect from particles beneath the surface of the cast, and optimum sharpness of the microscopic image is thus guaranteed.
SILMARK brown is available in two versions. The medium viscosity version, to be used at the crime scene, is thicker than the low viscosity version which is developed especially for making laboratory impressions (usually on an horizontal surface), where it will flow easily into the smallest details.
For the curing of the silicon rubber a paste hardener is used. The paste hardener is conveniently measured and mixed.
Sufficient hardener is supplied with the set that, under average circumstances, no additional hardener (C-7200) will be needed. It can be ordered separately though.
To mix the base compound with the hardener mixing sticks and mixing papers are included with the set.
White and black SILMARK can be found in the fingerprint section. Gray SILMARK, in low and medium viscosity variants, is also available.
